The question is not, “Why did I get married?” as popular as Tyler has made it. The question you need to ask yourself before you say I do is “WHY do I want to be married in the first place?” I can give a laundry list off the top of my head that are all the WRONG reasons to enter into such a serious partnership.
1. You think it’s the next logical step in your long term dating.
2. You live together already.
3. You have children together.
4. You look good together.
5. You have “fun” together (blank stare).
6. All of your friends are already married.
7. You want a baby.
8. You want to have sex whenever you want (rofl).
9. You want someone to take care of you.
10. You want someone to take care of and my favorite…drum roll…
11. You want someone to “complete you”.
If there was ever a time in your life that you need to evaluate and examine your emotions and intentions it is while pondering the idea of marriage prior to the reality of being in it. Why you do what you do matters! That being said, take note of just a few reasons why you should say “I do”.
1. You desire a lifetime companion with whom you can fulfill spiritual, personal and professional goals.
2. You want to commit to a relationship Gods way, using His plan (the bible) as a guide for the growth of your relationship.
3. You believe there is a purpose that you and your mate have to accomplish together through your union.
4. And another reason could certainly be love of family and the desire to be fruitful & multiply!
These are only a few reasons, but certainly not limited to such a short list. It’s just enough for you to consider and ponder “before you say I do”.

As someone whom hopes to be married soon, I think this is definitely food for thought. I appreciate the honesty
